Nuremore 2020

A socially distanced affair!

Once again Nuremore has come and gone, in unusual circumstances, it was just as good as ever!

Covid-19

On arrival at a very different and quiet Nuremore social distancing was adhered to as best we could with one exception, Marty May! It was impossible for anyone to pass Marty without getting a little shoulder rub a wee tap, and for one poor member of staff - what looked like a friendly head lock!! Bar closed and locked after food served at 11pm, but accommodated those who wanted to stay up in the lobby!

On to the golf!

Day One

Morris was delighted as always to see us on the course, full of his usual whit and charm, first item on the agenda was to pick the Ryder Cup teams, first out to be the two captains followed by teams and then captains picks for matches.

Matches picked and all to play for the golf didn't really shine for most on the first day, Mark Murphy took the honours on count back from Paul Devine and Stevie Malone. The matchplay gave the USA team a commanding lead after day one.

On the course Paul McDonnell took victory with 31 points to Mark Murphy a close second on 30pts, shoring up his clubhouse lead with two decent scores in the bag. USA increased their matchplay lead with some great matches!

Day Three

A reduced field for the away day to Concra Wood saw Martin change to the dark side for the day and join the American team for the three matches. The course was magnificent, if only Nuremore groundsteam were given the same equipment they could collect the grass of the fairways too! Scoring was difficult with Paul taking victory on 28pts (19 of those on the back nine) by six shots from Stevie Darragh, who didn't care as he found around 20 balls with his extra long scooper! Joe vowed never to play Concra Wood again!
