On a blustery day where the wind could have overcome the golf an excellent match came to the head on the final green with Pete MacManus lifting the prestigious Matchplay trophy for the first time. In a pendulous match shifting one way then the next - it was just one errant duff from Mark Murphy and an excellent bunker shot from Pete that made the difference. Congratulations Pete!

The wind also didn't trouble our winner on the day despite a potty mouth over the first few holes Joe Mathers was imperious, piercing through the wind and sinking puts from any distance to win by 6points.

We head into the last day of the season at Ardglass with any number of players set to win the Race to Ardglass. see the front page and standings
